The cliche of "doing more with less" doesn't seem to be going away any time soon, does it? As many will attest, most organizations haven't started growing their workforces yet and all-too-many are shrinking the pool of people available to work towards the organization's goals. AI promises productivity improvements, but people are as busy as they've ever been (if not busier). And the same specialized skills that may provide some people with "job security" can bring increased burden as individuals become bottlenecks to team and organizational success.
So, what are the practical implications of having too much work and not enough people to do it? How are you coping? Have you developed any superpowers to prioritize and focus on the things that truly bring about success? Have you found a source of energy to recharge yourself in the face of burnout?
By popular demand, the Agile PM Roundtable is revisiting the topic of "When there is (still) too much work and fewer workers". We've learned a lot in the years since we first explored this reality that many of us continue to face. We'll convene a Lean Coffee to craft a discussion that covers the questions, ideas, and experiences that are most relevant to you. We hope to see you there!
