AgileTO Quicktalk: Social Identity in Change Management with Shuman Ip
Details
Although every organization is different, most of them have common social struggles, such as politics, silos, mistrust, turf protection, etc.
As change agents, once we understand the origin behind these struggles, we can use that knowledge to aid our organizational transformation.
A lot of research and motivation theories indicate that personal identity drives individual behaviour, so what if our social identity drives these organizational struggles?
In this session, Shuman will touch on:
- Social identity and its impact in different situations
- A model to help us anticipate individual and social behaviours - Immelman's 5 social (tribal) dimensions
- Actions that can reduce the occurrence of the common struggles
After all, if you want to influence how people behave, you will first need to understand their motivations — both as individuals and as members of a group.
