The January speaker will be Lauren Egts discussing GlusterFS
As computing virtualizes into the cloud, storage needs to be virtualized as well. GlusterFS is a software based storage technology that allows a single file system name space to simultaneously span physical, virtualized, and cloud infrastructures. GlusterFS is a foundational storage technology at Pandora.com, Box.net, and many other organizations. GlusterFS is also used by NASA to store imagery sent back from the Curiosity Rover on Mars. In this talk, Lauren Egts will discuss what GlusterFS is, how to set up GlusterFS, and case studies of when the use of software based storage makes sense.
