San Antonio needs YOUR help in the City Nature Challenge 2024! This is our chance to showcase the incredible biodiversity of our city to the world, and we need YOUR contributions to make it happen.
What is the City Nature Challenge?
The City Nature Challenge is a global event where cities compete to observe and document the most wildlife and plants using the iNaturalist app. It's a fun way to explore and discover the natural beauty right here in our own backyard while contributing valuable data for science and conservation.
How Can You Participate?1. Download the iNaturalist app (available for free on iOS and Android).
2. Explore your surroundings - parks, neighborhoods, anywhere in the San Antonio Metro Area!
3. Snap photos of plants, animals, insects, or any living creature you encounter.
4. Upload your observations to the iNaturalist app.
5. Join the project: https://www.inaturalist.org/.../city-nature-challenge...
San Antonio is bursting with biodiversity, and together, we can show the world the richness of our natural world! Let's work together to put San Antonio on the map for the City Nature Challenge 2024! - YMCA Roberts Ranch , City Nature Challenge ObservationsYMCA Roberts Ranch, Comfort, TX
This is a guided outing setup to observe all living things for the City Nature Challenge, an event or project on iNaturalist. Ken Butler, Texas Master Naturalist / Audubon member who is an avid photographer will guide a walk on this YMCA owned ranch. We are asking that all participants fill-out the online waiver in the link below:

We will begin by introducing the City Nature Challenge taking place this weekend and show participants the basics on using the documentation and identification application, iNaturalist! It will be very useful to have join iNaturalist and placed the app on your cellphone. Then the group will head out onto the trails to capture and identify as many species as possible in the various habitats and trails on this Hill Country ranch. Good hiking shoes or boots are required for the up and down dirt trails. Dress appropriately for the weather. Bring water and snacks.
The outing is set up for 4 hours in order to observe the stream, pasture and upland habitats on the ranch. Breaks will be worked in during this outing.
