What we're about

During the covid epidemic we are continuing to hold walks for our members. If you want to become a club member and join in walks, please e-mail David Hall at davidhall@live.ca and David will send you a membership application form. The annual membership fee is $10 and each walk is $2.

Local clubs in the Edmonton area are:

• St. Albert Trekkers

• Parkland Walkers

• Northern Lights Walking Club

The clubs of the Volkssport Association of Alberta hold organized walks in Alberta approximately twice a week all year round. With clubs located throughout Alberta, you can walk the mountains, the cities, the towns and enjoy the vastness of this great province. Each club has unique walks to offer, and history to be learned.

The Canadian Volkssport Federation along with the American Volkssport Association are the largest organizations of walking clubs in the Americas. Their 600 clubs host non-competitive walks which are open to the public. So whether you want to walk locally, around the province, across the country or around the world there will be a walk for you!

St Albert Trekkers invite you to walk together

The Volkssport Association of Alberta is hosting the 5th River Ravine Walk on July 5 with registration at 6:30 for a walk start at 7:00 pm, in Fort Edmonton Park.
The address for Ft Edmonton is [masked] St. But after passing under the Quesnell Bridge turn left into the parking lot and proceed to the end. We usually try to meet at the picnic table under the trees, or as near there as possible.
The 6 km walk follows the natural trail around the outside of Ft. Edmonton Park, along the North Saskatchewan River, then crosses the Ft Edmonton Pedestrian Bridge and continues for a short distance on the West side of the river, before returning, across the bridge and back on a paved MUT into the park and back to the start point.
The 10 km walk starts the same but continues to a second footbridge, the Terwilleger Pedestrian Bridge, then follows a gravel trail uphill to Whitemud Rd for a lovely view of the river valley. The walk continues through a residential area, before winding downhill to the paved MUT into Ft Edmonton Park and back to the start.
Being an evening walk, bring your mosquito spray just in case. Hope to see you there!
