(Cornwall) - Blender 3D Basics

Details
Blender is an extremely powerful and professional-grade tool that has many talents - 3d modelling, realistic rendering, animation, visual effects, and even video editing. These capabilities can be automated and scripted using Python which enables algorithmic art.
You can find out more here: https://www.blender.org/features/
Amazingly, blender is open source, and you can use it for free on many platforms.
---
We're lucky to have Jon Buckby lead a hands-on tutorial suitable for complete beginners to designing and rendering 3d models.
You can see some of Jon's work here: https://sketchfab.com/lite/collections/stylised-vehicles
Jon will:
-
introduce the blender interface (which can seem overwhelming to newcomers)
-
guide us to create shapes, add colour and texture, and apply transformations
-
demonstrate how to render a realistic scene
-
introduce simple animation
---
This session is suitable for anyone who is new to 3d modelling and rendering.
If you're an artist new to digital tools, you're very welcome to join us.
After this session, you will have enough experience of the basics to continue exploring and learning to use this very powerful tool, now increasingly used by professions across industry.
Here are some stunning examples of blender renders created by experienced users: https://www.blenderguru.com/articles/24-photorealistic-blender-renders
---
This is a hands-on tutorial so please bring a fully-charged laptop with working wifi. Blender will benefit from a more powerful modern laptop if you have this option, but working with older laptops is entirely possible too.
Blender is free and is available for Linux, Windows and MacOS. You can get a copy here: https://www.blender.org
We can help you install it before the session starts if you need additional help.
---
The session starts at 6.00pm and you can arrive a few minutes before this. Car parking is free in the evening in some of the local council car parks including Garras Wharf car park.
