18.30 - 19.30: Python for Trading - by Ran Aroussi

Python is being adopted by the financial industry at a fast rate and is being used by top hedge funds on a daily basis for quantitative research, data exploration and analysis and for prototyping, testing and executing trading strategies.

In this lecture, we will review the Py-Finance ecosystem, and introduce the Trading Strategy development workflow - including strategy prototyping, backtesting, and optimization.

The lecture is aimed at Python developers, tech-savvy discretionary traders, data analysts, and anyone who wants to become an Algo trading professional and advance their career or trade their own funds.

Working knowledge of Python is assumed. Knowledge in finance and statistics is helpful.

The lecture will be presented by Ran Aroussi.

Ran is an autodidact computer programmer, who's actively researching and developing algorithmic trading strategies using quantitative and machine learning models. Ran released several popular open-source Python libraries for traders, which are available on his personal website (https://aroussi.com) and his Github page (https://github.com/ranaroussi).

The power of machine learning has gained momentum over the last decade. Many methods and methodologies from relevant also to the financial world, starting from an optimal portfolio, algorithmic trading, fraud detection, and many others. In this talk, we will discuss how machine learning can be integrated into finance.

The lecture will be presented by Barak Or.

Barak deals with AI and is interested in its applications to the industry. He is particularly interested in reinforcement learning for solving dynamic problems and computational geometry. Or is the winner of the 2018 Space defense Gemunder prize for his work on "Satellite Interception by Game Theory Approach". Holds a bachelor's and master's degrees in Aerospace engineering in the field of optimal control and estimation for missiles guidance based game theory approaches. Both from Technion. In addition, holds a bachelor's degree in economics and management - from the Technion. Currently, algorithm engineer at Qualcomm.
