LGBT Will and Estate Planning Talk

  • This location is shown only to members

  • Dear Members,

Estate/legacy planning is a very important part of our life. I'm glad that Bequest, a LGBT friendly firm who is willing to share their expertise and serve our needs.

Estate/legacy planning needs for LGBT persons are a mix of what single and married persons need to look out for. Did you know, according to the Intestate Succession Act (ISA), there are no provisions for non-family members to receive your assets/wealth/inheritance? As such, how can you ensure your partner receives your assets, be it money in the bank, property, insurance, amongst others?

Other points to consider:If you’re single, who receives your inheritance when you pass away; if you lose mental capacity, who will step forward to take care of your personal matters?Would you like your partner to legally receive your personal assets if something were to happen to you? How will your joint assets be legally dealt with? The one on most people’s minds—property. If you ever have biological children or even adopted children, are you familiar with matters regarding legal guardianship?Be it if you're single or in a relationship/partnership, in the event you’re not mentally able to make your own decisions on medical bills, insurance, CPF, property, etc, would you like enable someone to legally help you with such matters? We will run through the ISA framework, go through the above pertinent points and explain how estate planning tools such as a Will and a Lasting Power of Attorney can help you solve these potential problems. We will also bust some myths about Wills (for eg. you only need one near your time of death; if you don't have much assets you don't need a Will, etc). Join us for an insightful and educational session with our experienced speaker!

RSVP here and ticket @ $20. Limited to 15 pax only
