What we're about
Welcome to our Meetup! We’re glad you’ve found our learning community and are looking forward getting to know you better. You’ll find we’re friendly, curious, creative, fun-loving people who want nothing more than for everyone on earth to be as happy as possible.
We’re not kidding. We do mean everyone! Including you!!
All adults interested in making positive changes in their lives are welcome. No matter what improvements you’d like to make in your personal, professional, social or emotional life, you’re in the right place. Our community embraces and provides nurturing learning experiences for anyone wanting to feel better, be more productive, or build deeper, more meaningful relationships.
Our events provide fun, interesting, stress-free opportunities to learn, grow and relate. You’ll meet new people you genuinely like and find interesting, because they’re invested in learning, growing and connecting with others, too.
Our calendar offers a nice mix of free social gatherings and low-cost workshops designed to teach life-changing skills.
Our social events include simple board and card game nights, trivia nights, live music events, city neighborhood or nature walks, hiking, biking and other outdoor adventures, volunteer opportunities, museum visits, art happenings, craft events, comedy and improv nights, movies, plays, lectures, readings, food events, holiday celebrations, etc. & etc.
You name it! Literally: any Meetup member with a specific interest or idea, or who simply wants to start a new gathering closer to home, is welcome to plan and host a social event.
And that includes newcomers like you! Simply message Stephen, the Meetup Organizer, if you’d like to get a new event started in your neighborhood and involve other, like-minded souls who live nearby.
In addition to low-key social activities, AllTogether Portland sponsors or co-sponsors a wide range of educational and community-building workshops. These interactive learning experiences are designed to help us think more optimistically and creatively about our goals, wants and needs. They provide well-designed opportunities to meet, compare notes and make friends with others facing similar challenges, and to learn new concepts, tools and techniques to overcome them.
Classes typically meet for 1.5 or 2 hours each week for 6-8 weeks and offer warm, welcoming places to learn and have fun getting to know both ourselves and others better. The curriculum is designed to acknowledge strengths, focus on solutions rather than problems, and provide opportunities to learn and practice the skills we all need to make progress and gently hold ourselves accountable for the changes we want to make. Participants are encouraged to identify personal triggers, unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaving, and any other obstacles to feeling better or more successful. And to make all dreams and aspirations achievable by identifying specific, measurable goals and practical strategies to achieve them.
Our workshops also provide natural opportunities to deeply engage with others committed to similar kinds of learning and growth. Most courses include a communication skills component to help participants learn and practice the active listening and relationship-building skills that make it so much easier to connect with others in meaningful ways -- both within the group and beyond it, in our relationships with all those other pesky humans we know, love, work with, live near, are related to, and/or have mixed feelings about but need to interact with anyway.
Most importantly, AllTogether Portland workshops invite us to take charge of our own happiness by developing powerful new approaches and sharper skills, planning exactly how we’ll be successful, and then gathering all the resources and supports we know we’ll need to grow, learn and change in the ways we choose.
We hope you'll take this opportunity to join our community of active life-long learners.
We believe in you and the promise of what the future holds. We believe in you even if you don't, any more. And will be there for you even in those darkest moments, which we’ve all had, right on the verge of giving up on ourselves for good.
We know you can and will start feeling better, and probably sooner than you think. And that ending your isolation and spending more time with others who know and understand what you're going through is a major step in the right direction.
So come on out! There’s no cost to become a member of our Meetup. So why not plan to join us at one of our events soon!
We’ll see you there!

Or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at (800) 273-8255. In addition, urgent care walk-in services are available through Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare from 7am - 10:30pm every day at 2415 SE 43rd Ave in Portland: (503) 238-0705.
PPS: To maintain confidentiality, be aware that you can manage the settings on your Meetup Profile to ensure your group memberships remain invisible to others. In addition, out of respect for the confidentiality of others, please refrain from posting any photos from our events that identify other members. Thanks!
PPPS: To cover the cost of planning, organizing and promoting the 150+ free events we sponsor for our members each year, we do ask members to eventually make a voluntary annual contribution to support the Meetup. But please don’t make that donation right away, unless you already know you want to lend your support. Please, by all means, feel free to get to know us better first.
Why not come on out? Come meet some of the other folks who live in your community who are interested in the same things you are. Attend one of our no-risk social gatherings. Read a few upcoming workshop descriptions. Give yourself a little time to take us out for a spin, kick the tires, and make sure it’s a good fit.
Then, whenever you feel ready, make your annual donation whenever that feels right.
Your contribution is strictly voluntary. No one will ever check to be sure you’ve made it, and no one will ever think you don't belong if you don't.
It's entirely up to you.
Anytime you feel willing, you can find the “Chip in” button in the left column on our Member page. Or just follow this link:
