What we're about
Almaden Hiking Group is a hiking group organized by people who love and enjoy nature, making new friends, and getting some exercise. Our primary objective is to explore and enjoy nature. We will stop to see the wild flowers, waterfalls, towering redwood trees, take a picture, or have a small snack.
Almaden Hiking Group is the right match for you if you are in the age group of 50's and 60's. This group is ideal for couples, people who are in a relationship, or people whose partners or spouse doesn't like the outdoors, but we welcome everyone. Most of our hikes are in the range of 4 to 8 miles and moderate difficulty level. Occasionally we will do longer or strenuous hikes. We welcome new members, but since this is a small hiking group, we request you to answer a few questions for us to decide if your interest matches with the existing member’s interests. Before joining our group, please read the important information posted under the "Pages" tab. Read the "About Almaden Hiking Group" and the "Almaden Hiking Group rules" pages.
Once a quarter we remove inactive and unpaid members and will approve people waiting to be joined.
We expect a donation of $10.00/year to cover for the website management cost and other expenses including annual picnic. You can pay through meetup or pay cash to the group organizer.
If you are new, you have 3 months to try the group. After 3 months, you must pay the minimum donation to attend any more events. Meetup/Wepay manages the collection of dues. If you use a credit card to pay the dues, it is your responsibility to manage your account. Since this is a donation, we do not offer any refund, once it has been charged. AHG only get $8.75 for each $10.00 received. If you lead at least 4 hikes in a year, or other events, your membership dues will be waived.
Our event organizers are volunteers. When you join this group you agree to the release of liability.
