May 2026 (#81) – Voice controlled Sphero RVR robot & Deep Agents on AWS
Datacom Wellington, Asteron Building, 55 Featherston Street, Pipitea, Wellington 6011, Wellington, NZTēnā Koutou AWS Wellington Community,
Welcome back to the AWS User Group Wellington Meetup Series.
Join us for our May meetup-up featuring two awesome talks:
🎤 Talk 1: Drive a Sphero RVR with Amazon Nova Sonic and AWS IoT
🗣️ Speaker: Chiwai Chan(LinkedIn)In this session, Chiwai will demo and talk about the architecture of a voice-controlled Sphero RVR robot — speak commands and watch it drive.
He will cover how Amazon Nova 2 Sonic's tool use turns voice into actions, how commands flow through the cloud to the robot in real-time, and the UART bridge that translates MQTT messages into Sphero's binary protocol — all without a backend server.
🎤 Talk 2: Building a Deep Agents Harness for Kubernetes: Autonomous Troubleshooting at Scale
🗣️ Speaker: Dipin Thomas (LinkedIn)In this talk, you'll see how a Deep Agents harness — an opinionated framework that comes batteries-included with planning, memory, and multi-agent orchestration — turns Kubernetes troubleshooting from a 25-engineer fire drill into an autonomous on-call engineer that never sleeps.
We'll break down every key primitive like:
- Skills (your runbook as code)
- Memory (it remembers your last incident — your PagerDuty doesn't)
- Subagents (don't send one person, send a team)
- Human-in-the-Loop (it stops, it asks, then it acts)
- MCP (the hands that reach into your cluster).
Live demo. Real architecture. Code you can take home.
