  • Open Source, Inner Source

    WOPA

*** Hosting Reversim Lecture *** Inner source has huge benefits for companies, especially large ones – from cost reduction, through shorter time to market and greater innovation, to faster growth. So what is inner source? Yes, we know… use of the best practices in open source software development and the establishment of an open source-like culture within the organization. We all know how to Google and check Wikipedia. But how do we take open source best practices and put them to use in a large, monolithic enterprise? How can we sail through to the benefits without crashing on the rocks? Arthur Berezin, a Reversim Lecturer, will talk about Open Source culture Ori Orenbach and Esty Liani will share experiences from their journeys in building inner source communities in Amdocs, including: • What is the inner source culture? • Why did we choose to adopt inner source? • How does it interact with the DevOps culture? • How can you start an inner source program? • What are the challenges to adopting inner source? • How have our groups evolved until now, and what benefits did we gain? Arthur Berezin Esty Liani and Ori Orenbach are software engineering managers in two top-notch R&D groups in Amdocs. Both are practicing the magic of implementing inner source practices within their groups, leading the new paradigm, and constantly innovating. Agenda: 18:00 - Gathering, Pizza & Beer 18:15 - 19:00 - Arthur Berezin - Open Source 19:00 - 19:45 - Esty Liani & Ori Orenbach - Inner Source 19:45 - 20:00 - Q&A

  • Hosting SpaceIL and the first Israeli spaceship on its way to the Moon

On this session we're hosting the SpaceIL Meetup series (https://www.meetup.com/SpaceIL-Lecturers-Lectures/events/245635016/) - if you've already RVSP there, no need for another. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3qPzZy0tj8 SpaceIL is a non-profit organization established in 2011, aiming to land the first Israeli spacecraft on the Moon. The organization was founded by three young engineers: Yariv Bash, Kfir Damari and Yonatan Winetraub, who answered the international challenge presented by Google Lunar XPRIZE: to build, launch and land an unmanned spacecraft on the Moon. SpaceIL is the only Israeli representative. The prize to be awarded to the winners in first place is $20 million. SpaceIL is committed to contributing all potential prize money to the advancement of science and technology education in Israel, actively working to create an Israeli "Apollo Effect.” SpaceIL is committed to inspiring the next generation in Israel and around the world to choose to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). For more details, check http://www.spaceIL.com This group was originally created as a place for SpaceIL Community lecturers to share knowledge, questions, tips and ideas. The general idea is to have a lecturer presenting his/her own flow of the story, generate a discussion and share feedback. The sessions are also open for the general public, and guests are happily welcomed - ever wanted to reach the Moon? Follow us! The presentation is usually being delivered in Hebrew, yet all the slides include English subtitles and most of the videos are in English as well. If you’re an English speaker and wish to participate, please let us know and we’ll see what we can do to accommodate. Agenda – 18:00-18:30 - Gathering 18:30 - 19:30 - Lecture 19:30 - 20:30 – Q&A This format is an ongoing experiment – questions, comments, ideas and feedback in general are highly appreciated :) Please make sure to RSVP, to allow an easy access to the Amdocs facility.
