Senior Researcher in Medical Informatics at CWI & Professor of Evolutionary Algorithms at Delft University of Technology
Flash Talk #1: Evolutionary Intelligence in Medicine.
Peter's fundamental research focus is on the design and application of efficiently scalable model-based evolutionary algorithms (EAs). His applied research focus is on the use of EAs to solve key problems in the LSH domain. A specific focus thereby is on radiation oncology, including automated treatment planning, 3D dose reconstruction, and deformable image registration.

Flash Talk #2: The road ahead: bringing models to the bedside.
Patrick works as an intensivist at the Intensive Care Department at the Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc and is also engaged in the application of machine learning techniques in the medical domain, specifically at the Intensive Care. Developing a model is just the first step. To bring a model to the bedside, model validation, software prototyping, end-user testing, engaging all stakeholders and sometimes even CE-certification are required. In his talk, Patrick will illustrate this process by a real-world decision support tool for discharge from the Intensive Care unit.

Medical Doctor, NLP/Machine Learning Scientist at Elsevier
Flash Talk #3: Content-rich Capabilities in Precision Medicine
Ewoud is a medical doctor with experience in clinical radiology, but proceeded to do PhD research in medical informatics/data science during which he has gained experience in developing NLP and ML pipelines. He has worked on creation of data-driven prediction models from routine EHR data and service such models as clinical decision support system. Ewoud is also trained as a clinical epidemiologist. He has joined Elsevier as a data scientist to combine his experience with algorithmic computing and epidemiology to generate value for patients and care providers.
