We are inviting you to join us at this interactive Meetup focused on the newest spin-offs in Data Science and AI in Amsterdam. Spin-offs are a key factor for the successful transfer of promising technologies, research results and know-how to industry and society.

On the 12th of January 2023, we are hosting the first ADS Drinks & Data of 2023 in collaboration with TTT-AI and ACE! There will be talks by an Industry and Academic Spin-off and 4 startups presenting a pitch presentation in front of you and a picky panel!

Talk #1 by Peter Boncz
Peter Boncz holds appointments as tenured researcher at CWI and professor at VU University Amsterdam. His academic background is in database systems architecture, with the MonetDB the systems outcome of his PhD, that later also led to a startup. He has been involved in six startup companies so far; and received the Dutch ICT Regie Award back in 2006 for his role in the CWI spin-off Data Distilleries. He is co-recipient of the 2009 VLDB 10 Years Best Paper Award, and in 2013 received the Humboldt Research Award for his research, in which well-known aspects are: columnar data storage, vectorized query execution, lightweight database compression, and multiple query optimization, query execution and graph processing benchmarks. He has co-organized the main database research conference ACMD SIGMOD in Amsterdam in 2019, as well as CIDR bi-annually (cidrdb.org/cidr2023).
