Hello .NETers,
It's time for our first meetup in 2017. We are excited to finally share this event with you.
For this edition we will have two awesome speakers talking about F# and AWS Lambda at Travix's beautiful office in Amsterdam.

Mark Vincze is a software developer working at Travix in Amsterdam with experience on both the client and the server side in various domains.
Currently he is mainly focused on developing services using C# and ASP.NET Core, but also trying to embrace the polyglot lifestyle by doing some coding in Golang, JavaScript and F#.
He blogs at https://blog.markvincze.com (https://blog.markvincze.com/), and you can say hi to him on twitter at https://twitter.com/mrkvincze .
Jumpstart F# web development
F# is a language thoroughly loved by its community, and its popularity is growing steadily. It's a general purpose functional-first language targeting the .NET Framework.
Thanks to the ever-increasing importance of distributed systems and scalability, there is a surge of interest in functional programming and the benefits it brings such as immutability, expressiveness and composability.
The community around F# is exceptionally active and enthusiastic in developing the tools and frameworks to empower its ecosystem. Which also means that the developer workflow is sometimes less streamlined than its C# counterpart, which is usually officially developed by Microsoft and integrated into Visual Studio.
This talk will give an overview on how we can get started with web development in F#, using ASP.NET, and a more niche, functional web framework, Suave.IO, both on the .NET Framework, and on .NET Core.
Pat Hermens - Lead .NET developer @Coolblue (https://www.coolblue.nl/)
https://a248.e.akamai.net/secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/3/a/6/600_458473222.jpeg
Pat is a loud Australian that’s been living in the Netherlands for a few years – and trying to learn Dutch. Pat is also a Lead .Net Developer at Coolblue, based in Rotterdam. At risk of sounding cliché, Pat finds that interesting problems & inspiring solutions are what gets him out of bed in the morning.
Let's try out C# on AWS Lambda together
In late 2016, Amazon announced that AWS Lambda would support C# as a native language, which was their first foray into allowing "serverless computing" with the .Net framework!
Let's dive into what this means for designing composible systems using C# -- all without having to worry about managing the underlying infrastructure.
In this talk Pat will go over the basics of setting up a function, written in C#, running on AWS Lambda and discuss how that can integrate into a larger (existing) system - as well as how to avoid some of the "gotchas" he uncovered while attempting to do so at Coolblue.
