Join us for a meetup on predictive customer analytics at de Persgroep Online Services! We’ll dive into the nitty gritty of data science with two projects on churn and cross-selling. Talk #1: Predicting Churn: Theory & Practice Predicting churn, i.e. customer leaving, is one of the most common use cases for data science in legacy industries. Alex will present the conceptual framework to data model churn and walk through a practical step-by-step example, based on transactions record from an online retail company. The data set will be sent afterward, for you to try it for yourself! Alex Combessie, Data Scientist at Dataiku: Alex Combessie is a Data Scientist at Dataiku who designs and deploys data projects with Machine Learning from prototype to production. Prior to his time at Dataiku, he helped build the Data Science team of Capgemini Consulting in France. Having begun his career in economic analysis, he continues to work on interpretable models in complement to Deep Learning. Alex is also a travel junkie, who enjoys learning new things and making useful products. Talk #2: Cross-Selling in the Media In this talk Pieter will speak about cross-selling newspapers at de Persgroep, the largest distributor of newspapers in the Netherlands. After subscribing to one of our newspapers one of the following steps in the customer journey is to cross-sell either a nationwide distributed newspaper (de Volkskrant or Trouw) or regionally oriented newspaper (like de Gelderlander or Het Parool) to enrich the reader experience. Topics include: data quality, marketing channels, machine learning and A/B testing. Pieter Marcus, Data Scientist at de Persgroep Nederland: Pieter is passionate about developing statistical machine learning models to uncover hidden patterns and trends in real world data. After a semester abroad at the University of Michigan he found his interest in statistics and graduated from Leiden University with a MSc in Applied Statistics. Prior to joining de Persgroep he worked at ING and HotelSpecials.
