Data Science as Product Development:
Data science represents a new way of recognizing customer needs in terms of product design and experience. In contrast, few business leaders allow such to drive design, resources, budgets, user experience, and marketing. Haftan is here to explain how data science can provide strategic product development, and what it takes for a data team to scale up to that level of influence.
Haftan’s bio:
Haftan Eckholdt is Chief Data Science Officer at Plated, a meal kit company founded five years ago. His main focus has been to build diverse research teams at AIG, Amazon, and now Plated. Its recent acquisition by Alberston's means that data science product development will take on a new urgency as combinations of physical and digital experiences are considered for 35 million weekly customers.
How Data Science Tools and Infrastructure Define Business Strategy:
We spend much time thinking about how technology helps us get more powerful tools, but we less often reflect on which impact tools have on behaviors, productivity, and business in fine. Jorie will give an overview of the data science market, explain its fragmentation, and highlight solutions to choose the right tool for each business problem.
Jorie's bio:
Jorie Koster-Hale is a broadly-trained data scientist at Dataiku with expertise in healthcare data, neuroscience, and machine learning. She is an award-winning researcher and instructor. Prior to joining Dataiku, she completed her Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard.
Jorie currently resides in Paris where she eats lots of pains au chocolat.
