Android Budapest March* 2021

Details

Attention, Android developers - this is not a joke! Our March meetup will actually happen on April 1st, and we're getting back to our local roots, featuring two Hungarian speakers, both of whom have been on our physical stage before. Now they'll step on a virtual one instead bringing the same captivating presentation style with them to the online space.

Both talks will cover best practices around popular Jetpack libraries. First, you’ll learn how to handle database migrations gracefully with Room, and then you’ll get some great tips for managing your application state correctly.

📜 Schedule (CEST time zone):
18:30 - 19:00: Socializing
19:00 - 19:30: Android Complexity by Márton Braun
19:30 - 20:00: Break
20:00 - 20:30: Reactive State Management with Jetpack by Gábor Váradi
20:30 - : More socializing

🔷 Talk #1: Android Complexity - Márton Braun

Android development can often feel overwhelming – there’s so, so many things to take care of around a single app. Here’s a brief look at all the things* that an Android developer would have to consider, do, and test for in order to create the theoretically perfect application, to serve as a practical checklist for starting your next Android project.

*definitely still not all the things

🔷 Talk #2: Reactive State Management with Jetpack - Gábor Váradi

What is state management, and why is it hard? Actually, IS it hard? How can it be made easier by leveraging reactivity? What principles can be followed in order to make state management more reliable?

This talk will show what cases to consider when working with state on Android, how to use state for loading data asynchronously, how we can cut down on potential edge cases to consider, and how a combination of Jetpack components can be used to help us with that.

🌍 The event will be hosted on Airmeet (airmeet.com).

❕ P.s.: We are always looking for new presenters, if you have an idea for a talk, please tell us: www.androidbudapest.com/talkidea
