What we're about

The Angels of Freedom community group launched in December 2017 with the aims of providing compassionate support & increasing awareness of risks and vulnerabilities within the Leeds LGBT+ communities.

We provide positive opportunities to work within the community, and provide a constructive forum for engagement with organisations such as West Yorkshire Police, British Transport Police and Leeds City Council in addition to partnership working with agencies such as Samaritans Leeds, Forward Leeds and others providing support.

In this group we'll share opportunities to engage with activities led by our project along with those of our partners.

These sessions are hosted by the West Yorkshire Police Hate Crime response coordinators, and facilitated by an independent chair (Rob Wilson, Angels of Freedom coordinator).

We welcome new members to assist in reviewing and discussing recent cases of reported LGBT+ Hate Crime in Leeds, to ensure the police have provided an appropriate response in supporting the reporting person and in tackling the Hate Crime incident.

No previous knowledge or experience needed, however pre-registration is required. For a role overview and application please email [masked] &/or [masked]
