by Uma Moiseenko

In this talk, Uma will cover the basics behind RxJs Observables and Promises, and their differences. Why would someone choose one over the other? She will be using code samples to figure out the answers to these questions. Her goal is to ensure that everyone who has never worked with Observables before, leave with a basic understanding of the concept!

1- Review Eitan’s slide presentation (https://www.slideshare.net/DoronSherman/an-img-is-worth-a-1000-words) from our recent Meetup

2- Create an image gallery using ngb-carousel (an Angular-Bootstrap component, https://github.com/ng-bootstrap/ng-bootstrap )

3- Choose 10 images from https://www.graphicstock.com/ and create an image gallery whose total size is less than 1MB, adding a text layer with the disclaimer "Original image downloaded from graphicstock.com (http://graphicstock.com/)". Images should be responsive so that total size decreases on smaller screens.

4- Post your solution by Wed July 5th (preferably on CodePen) and share a link to it by sending an email to doron@cloudinary.com with "Angular Cloudinary Challenge" in the subject line. Specify which slides in the presentation helped in coming up with your solution.

5- Cloudinary will raffle the prize, among those submitting a working image gallery solution (that's powered by Cloudinary, register your free account here (https://cloudinary.com/users/register/free?utm_source=AngularNYC&utm_medium=Newsletter&utm_content=Meetup)) by Fri July 7th.
