Best Practices for Running PostgreSQL in Production with Ansible

PostgreSQL has become the go to choice for open source relational databases -- even Ansible Tower uses it as its backend! While it can be easy to get a single instance of PostgreSQL up and running, there are several things to consider when deploying PostgreSQL into a production environment. Fortunately, we can automate a lot of these production tasks with Ansible!

In this talk, we will provide considerations and guidance for deploying a production PostgreSQL cluster with fully high-availability (HA) capabilities, including using trusted open source software to address disaster recovery, monitoring and high-availability requirements.

In this session, we will:

* Review and overview of Production Data Management Considerations
* Review the open source tools and extensions in the PostgreSQL ecosystem that support production deployment
* Review a Highly Available PostgreSQL Architecture for Single and Multi-Data Center Deployments
* Run through a failover scenario, and observe how PostgreSQL is still available and how our demo application still works!
