Ansible Philadelphia Kickoff
Details
Hey Ansiblers! Our inaugural speaker will be David Roller. He'll tell us about how he helped transform his organization with Ansible:
The Ansible to (most of) our Problems
A year and a half ago, we found ourselves in the unenviable position of trying to keep a Frankenstein's monster of Chef, cfengine, and bash scripts meeting our needs. The team that had implemented the technologies was long gone and no one on the current team really had a good understanding of all of the moving pieces and dependencies.
Every change made, no matter how small, involved lots of crossed fingers and holding of breath. Eventually, it got to the point that new systems were not even being brought up with any kind of configuration management, and we knew something had to change.
Enter Ansible. While the organization as a whole began a formal process for choosing the next configuration management tool, a few users began experimenting with Ansible and were excited by what they saw.
In this presentation, you'll hear about how we got our feet wet with Ansible from small one off tasks, to provisioning Vagrant dev boxes, to eventually formally choosing Ansible and Tower and moving all of our systems under it and why I believe Ansible was the right choice for us.
We're still accepting lightning talks or full-length talk submissions for future meetups. Message the organizers or email nate@radify.io .
