Hello from Oceanside.

This is a call to all local artists and writers.

Here is a reminder that there will be a planning event this coming Sunday, September 11 at 802 So. Tremont St in Oceanside for our First Anniversary Celebration to be held on October 8th.  Through community support, A Word with You Press has established itself as the hub for writers and artists in Oceanside, and is still standing after the first year since opening our doors.

We intend to have a live band, on-going poetry slam, rotation of authors reading their works, and artists displaying their works for sale, and food and soda on October the 8th.

We will also be holding a raffle for a Nook, and assorted prizes provided by local sponsors.

Admission to the public will be free, and each person who attends will be issued a raffle ticket.  We will have additional tickets for sale for $2 each, or ten tickets for $15.

To cover our initial costs (appx $500) we will ask each writer and displaying artist  for a $10 contribution.  Artists and artisans can sell their work, and the house will collect a 30% commission.  No commission from the sale of books.

After costs have been recouped, all revenues will go to our non-profit, Kid Expression, the program that grooms future Pulitzer Prize winners and gets them published in an anthology.

We are limiting the event to ten artists and fifteen writers, but an unlimited number of slam poets.  We will occupy the courtyard at 802 So. Tremont, and have at least two suites, if not three, to display art work and books, or conduct readings and poetry slam.

Please RSVP if you will be attending the planning session.  We will be designing the event, laying out ground rules, and allocating space to artists, and creating the agenda for book reads and poetry slams.

This has the potential to be a huge event, especially if artists and writers promote attendance on their own websites and social networks.

Those of you who have been to our clubhouse/HQ know that the place is magical.  Please broadcast this message on your own social media, and do attend the planning session if you would like in on this. If you would like to be an exhibitor but can't make the Sept. 11 meeting, please let me know.
