I am delighted to announce that A Word with You Press has just signed an agreement with Dime Stories International to become a chapter, hosting these delightful events the third Friday of each month (starting February 15th at 6pm at our clubhouse at 802 So. Tremont Street.

From their preamble:
"DimeStories International is...dedicated to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of 3-minute stories read by the author to the listening public, whether by open mic, showcase events with pre-selected readers, or radio or podcasts."

The rules are rigid; you have not more than three minutes to read a story that has a beginning, middle, and an end. At three minutes YOU ARE DONE, with script left on you page or not.

Participants and audience vote on the best stories of the evening, which are recorded as they are read, and are sent to Dimestories HQ. Some of the stories find their way to public radio.

It's a great way to hone your self-editing skills and become a greater writer, and wonderfully entertaining to be in the audience.

All members of Anti-Social Creative Misfits are encouraged to attend. Unlike our read-and-respond sessions, there is no feedback given other than thunderous applause.

We meet at 6:00...start reading promptly at 6:30, and when we're done, we're done! Wine and cheese, no heavy meal like our read and respond sessions. Maybe afterwards a jaunt over to the Flying Pig?

DimeStories International suggests a $5 donation at the door for all who read to help pay our dues for the franchise.

I do hope this venue will encourage our members who have not been attending our read and respond sessions to start filling in the white space!

See you Friday, the 15th at A Word with You Press 802 So. Tremont, Oceanside
