Speech/Talk Writing Practice to #EndWhiteSilence (over Zoom)

Details

After and during our week(s) of protests after the murder of George Floyd and many other black people due to racial biases, some of us might feel a greater need and (getting) ready to speak up more. We might have been asked to speak at a march of white folks who want to #EndWhiteSilence. Or we might feel we need to talk more with our family, friends and neighbors to #EndWhiteSilence moving forward. Or it might be you want to reach out to folks with letters or on social media.

Deb is working on a potential speech for a march in Medway, and LB thought we might all want to practice this too. So if you are game, join us. We will discuss ideas, fears, feelings of courage, etc. then start writing drafts independently during the Zoom call. We will wrap up with questions that came up while writing during the call.

We will set a date before we end, to come back together to share what we worked on between meetings.

ZOOM:
The meeting code will be posted in the comments on this page before the meeting. Only folks who RSVP will be let in from the "waiting room." Please join the call 5 minutes before the official meeting start time to make sure you can get on the call. We want to start the meeting at 2 pm. Put a comment on this page if you are having problems getting in. (Please download Zoom in advance if you haven't used it before.)

“Without inner change, there can be no outer change. Without collective change, no change matters.” by Angel Kyodo Williams

Whatever we practice, gets stronger. And we are stronger and better together.
