I started "waking up white" early 2015. Since then I have been breaking the silence of racism, reading, listening, blogging a resource (, organizing, going to as many meetings as I can, protesting...I look forward to working with you.

Do you believe racism has been eradicated?

No no no...we swim in the waters of a racist systems.

Do you believe that whiteness plays a role in racism?

Yes. Robin's DiAngelo's book: White Fragility helps to explain this concept of "whiteness." A very helpful read.

Do you have a favorite author/blogger/musician/artist/ film/etc. focusing on racism? Why?

Current fav. books: "So You Want to Talk About Race" by Ijeoma Oluo and "White Fragility" by Robin DiAngelo. "The New Jim Crow, Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness" by Michelle Alexander is very informative too. "The Warmth of Other Suns" about the Great Migration is very educational, as is "The Half Has Never Been Told" about slavery. "Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?" by Beverly Daniel Tatum: "...we pay a price for our silence. Unchallenged personal, cultural, & institutional racism results in the loss of human potential, lowered productivity, and a rising tide of fear and violence in our society." I am extremely grateful for these and other authors. I keep a list of my recommendations on my resource blog:
