Dataflow with Apache NiFiPresented by Aldrin Piri - Hortonworks

This talk will provide an overview of the genesis of Apache NiFi and how it was built to handle the realities of comprehensive dataflow management. We will highlight the tooling that NiFi provides as a framework to aid in mediating a wide breadth of systems, protocols, and formats that are in perpetual flux and evolving and illustrate the role of NiFi in the context of the Big Data ecosystem.

Our talk will include a live demo highlighting real-time, interactive, command and control and data provenance.

The Thing About Protecting Data Is, You Have To Protect Data

Presented by Andy LoPresto - Hortonworks

Your dataflow solution handles some of the most sensitive information in your organization, aggregates it through a single node or cluster, and enables extraction of valuable analytics and insight. But just as it provides great value to your organization, it's a lucrative target for malicious actors. Join us as we discuss the security considerations underlying the development of Apache NiFi. You'll learn techniques to secure your dataflow as well as hear in-depth explanations of current and future information protection features -- from automatic cipher suite upgrades to searchable cryptographically-protected data to encrypted configuration values. You won't be able to stop the money train, so learn how to defend it.

Speaker Bio

Andy LoPresto is a software engineer focused on information security. He is a Committer for Apache NiFi and has experience securing (and un-securing) data at some of the largest and smallest organizations around the world. He is a fan of responsible, secure vulnerability disclosure and aggressive test-driven development.
