Starting at Crater Lake the hike will include Buttermilk Falls, Hemlock Pond, Blue Mountain Lake, and Lake Success. Stunning views, rock formations, and wildflowers will present themselves. There will be steep rocky trails along with 2 track woods roads and 1500' of elevation gain. Bring sturdy hiking boots, min. 2 liters water, lunch, snacks, sun screen, insect repellent and appropriate clothing. Meeting place is Blue Mountain Lake Parking lot at 8:45 am. From there it is a short car pool to the starting point for a 9:00 am start. This is a all day event.
Five lakes and Haunted Camp 3C12
Come ramble with us in the Delaware Water Gap (Jersey side). We will circuit hike the lake and pond area of Blue Mountain Lakes, Hemlock Pond, Crater Lake, a new beaver pond and Long Pine Pond. There's an old camp at Long Pine Pond that's mostly abandoned and owned by the NPS. Some buildings we can explore or maybe check out the etchings of campers from the distant past. Pace will be moderate and we will cover about 11 to 12 miles on Blue Mountain Lake Trail, Buttermilk Falls Trail, The AT, and an unmarked trail from the haunted camp. Expect to see lots of wildflowers and maybe a bull frog or two. Bring lots of lunch food (we like to eat lunch twice), at least 2 liters water or a water filter, and snacks. Wear sturdy foot ware - trail runners or hiking boots are best. The terrain is mixed - easy grassy lanes and some steep stony trails. No dogs please.
Group sizes are limited to 20. An optional post hike gathering will be at the Minisi Hotel.
