What we're about

This group is for those who are excited about Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Bioengineering (Bio). Members of this group include professionals, entrepreneurs, students, researchers, investors, and representatives from companies, industry bodies, media, and government. This group will focus on activities (talks, meetups, workshops, hackathons, study jams, startup meets, investor pitches, etc) in Bangalore, while our other group will continue to focus on activities in Mumbai at https://www.meetup.com/AppliedSingularityMu... are welcome to join both.

Members are also invited to download the Applied Singularity app at http://www.appliedsingularity.com/app to get access to the latest information, resources, learning opportunities, jobs, startup support, and networks. Please use it to make steady progress in your IoT/AI/Bio journeys on a daily basis.

Rapid Prototyping of IoT Solutions

Building a prototype of hardware solutions helps to envision solution features clearly, get actionable feedback from users, catch errors early, and provides the credibility needed to acquire early customers or funding. However, if not careful, prototype development costs, time and effort can escalate uncontrollably. This workshop will help participants learn the skills of rapid prototyping of IoT solutions using open source tools and best practices. HARDWARE KIT: The complete hardware kit required for this workshop will be provided, which includes ProtoKit IoT Node with Temperature Sensor, Light Intensity Sensor, Push Switches, LEDs, Relays, etc. The kit is to be returned in working condition after the workshop concludes. Those interested in buying the kit can do so after the workshop, subject to availability. Please bring your laptops and Android phone, if available. AGENDA: 10:00 - Welcome note 10:15 - Introduction to IoT with case studies 11:15 - System setup 12:00 - Interfacing sensors and actuators with the prototyping board 13:30 - Lunch (self-sponsored) 14:30 - Integrating IoT hardware with Firebase Google Cloud 16:00 - Android app development and integration with hardware using Scratch 17:30 - Resources and next steps INSTRUCTORS: Protogen is the training wing of FluxGen Engineering Technologies Pvt.Ltd. FluxGen is a Tech company started by alumni of IISc, IIT and IIM. In the business of IoT for the last five years, they have made pioneering IoT deployments in renewable energy, water and other resources management. They have shared their knowledge in IoT with Google Product Managers, Accenture Strategy team, TCS Agriculture team and also with academic institutions like Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), VU University Amsterdam, Indian Institute of Science, National Institute of Technology and other institutions. FEE: This meetup is free to attend but registration is required, as given below. REGISTRATION: Applied Singularity Android app users - Register directly on the app, under Events. If you don't have the app already, you can get it here: www.appliedsingularity.com/app iOS and others - Please fill in this Event Registration Form: https://goo.gl/forms/qfJlIma2bVCwd1Wj1 Note that RSVPing on meetup.com or in the Meetup app DOES NOT reserve your seat. You must register on the Applied Singularity app or fill in the form above. Please reach Nihal at[masked] or at [masked] if you need any clarifications or have any challenges in registration.
