KPMG Drop-in Dr. Session

Our sponsor KPMG is holding free Drop-in Dr. Sessions at A Lab, just for Appsterdamers!

KPMG will have experts on-site, who will sit down with you and give individual advice. You can ask any type of accounting, financial, tax, or business consulting question. Examples include:

General company tax and VAT questions like are these expenses tax deductible? Do I need to charge VAT on this revenue? How do I deal with VAT to or from clients in other countries? What are the implications and/or potential gains of a new tax rule?

Questions on setting up and understanding reports: How do I set up management information and reporting? How do I set up financial and cashflow forecasts? How do I read and assess profit and loss, balance sheets and cashflow reports (of yourself and of companies who you are dealing with)?

General business questions like should I expand into international markets? Should I hire employees, or carry on with freelancers?

Questions on filing and audit requirements: What are my filing requirements at the Chamber of Commerce? When do I need to file at the Chamber of Commerce? Do I need an audit?

All other general bookkeeping questions you might have like how do I set up an administration? What general ledger entries should I make for a certain transaction?

The KPMG Drop-in Dr. Sessions will be held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 16:30 - 18:00. Please RSVP so we know to expect you.

This is a great opportunity to get expert advice.

See you then!

    Did this session actually happen? I came to the lab early but was told that it would probably be cancelled as very few people had registered. So I went back to the office.

    Thanks Jurjaan and Alexandra for the session yesterday, was really good to talk through some of the questions and issues we face. We'll be going into technical beta in a couple of weeks, so if anyone's interested in being a part of that, let me know...

    Nice session! We've shared thoughts with the people of KPMG and got some solid advice. Nice initiative, keep up the good work!

    I am looking for a technical meeting. I suppose the drop-in meetings are not meant to discuss programming problems. I have visited the Saturday morning meetings in the Coffee Room but is still hard to find people with the right knowledge. The app delegate thread problem looks like a profound technical problem.
    So I showed a small piece of Swift code that is misbehaving until now.
    I suppose the solution is reasonably simple once you know what is going on. If anyone could help me with this, you're welcome. I can skip the drop-in meeting of tomorrow I guess. Plenty of time to think about the thread problem while working in the office in Heiloo.

    The problem is a thread:
    // AppDelegate.swift
    // XML_Structure2
    // Created by I-connect Alkmaar on 01/09/14.
    // Copyright (c) 2014 I-connect Heiloo. All rights reserved.

    import UIKit
    import CoreData

    class AppDelegate: UIResponder, UIApplicationDelegate { class AppDelegate: UIResponder, UIApplicationDelegate { Thread 1: signal SIGABRT var window: UIWindow?

    Anyone at the drop-in session who could help me with this thread problem ?

    I have a problem connecting a control in the main storyboard to my Swift code by dragging. I get the error message:
    [masked]:07:50.882 XML_Structuur2[2035:290604] Unknown class ViewController in Interface Builder file.
    [masked]:07:52.332 XML_Structuur2[2035:290604] -[UIViewController myButtonpressed:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xb5169e0
    <cut>[masked]:07:52.334 XML_Structuur2[2035:290604] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception '
    ) libc++abi.dylib: terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
    (lldb) I'd like to come to the KPMG drop-in session tomorrow at 3:30 pm. I use Xcode 6 on an iMac which sits in the office in Heiloo. I could make a paper print of the Swift code I wrote until now. Maybe the error message above already gives a clue. Howto catch an exception I must have overlooked until now. Please let me know if it is worthwile to join the drop-in session.
