New Meetup: Beginner Arabic class and beginner Lebanese conversation

From: Roula
Sent on: Wednesday, July 21, 2010 12:58 PM
Announcing a new Meetup for The Pittsburgh-Wexford Arabic Language Meetup Group!

What: Beginner Arabic class and beginner Lebanese conversation

When: Thursday, July 29,[masked]:00 PM

Price: $15.00 per person

Where: Panera Bread
7217 McKnight Rd
Pittsburgh, PA 15237

We will start at the very beginning with the alphabet and the accents " tanween." We will also start with the basic Lebanese greetings. Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian, Jordanian are all very similar, so if you are interested in the Levantine dialects, this is the right place. Moroccan and Algerian arabic are very different, Egyptian is also different but still closer and easier to understand.
Written Arabic is the same for all and if you are interested in reading and writing formal arabic, this class is a good place to start.

We will start class at 7PM and hopefully we will get the private room, I can only reserve it if I have 8 people they say but as soon as I have 5 people signed up, I think I can do this. The class is 1h and a half and the cost is $15 per session.

To really benefit from the class it is best to meet twice a week, but we can determine this later depending on interest and attendance. However, it is really important to do the work I assign and review at home. In the past I have started doing recordings of the classes and those who attended could use those for review.

As soon as you look at your schedule, please respond yes or no for the class. I hope we get a serious group going.

This is not for advanced people. Every Sunday afternoon Christine and Tiyseer run an arabic conversation group with games and discussions and it is a great way to keep up with the arabic you have learned.

Hope to see you soon.
