Take a Seat Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Improve your strength, flexibility, and mobility through standing or seated yoga poses specially adapted for seniors at any level of health and fitness. Chairs and props are provided to keep everyone safe and supported—no need to bring a yoga mat. This class is held every Friday at 9am - 10:15am and every Monday (shown in another Meetup). Root to Rise is gentle poses with stretching! We begin on the floor performing deep tissue stretches emphasizing grounding into the Earth. As we take to our feet we lift energy all the way into our fingertips before ending with a guided meditation. This class is held every Friday at 10:30am - 11:45am. Shamanic Drum Journeys with Vox Angelus are a sonic soundscape including drums, vocals, singing bowls, and other sacred and indigenous instruments, offering you the opportunity to enter a process of purification - to release, clear and rebalance mind, body, and emotions! The vibrations of the drum have a deep, transformative effect on the body, bringing about profound and lasting changes! As a form of sound healing, it is undoubtedly one of the most accessible methods to experience. There will be a short meditation to begin where you will be able to set your personal intention for the evening. The therapeutic rhythm of the drum has been used for thousands of years to create and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual health. Recent research indicates that drumming accelerates physical healing, induces deep relaxation and altered states of consciousness, boosts the immune system, lowers the blood pressure, reduces stress, and produces feelings of well-being and reintegration of self. You may sit down on a chair or bolster or lie down on the floor for this experience of deep meditation and journeying. Please bring whatever will make you comfortable lying on the floor. Eye covering suggested. Mats, bolsters, and chairs are available if needed. Water bottles or drink containers must be covered.
