Arizona Dragon Riders is a dragon boat racing team. We are one of a few dragon boat teams that are a member of the Arizona Dragon Boat Association (AZDBA). Dragon boating is a water sport that originates from China. The sport consists of a large canoe of 10 seats with 2 paddlers per seat plus a steers person and a drummer. Each dragon boat team paddles together in unison to reach the finish line. A typical race is a distance of 250 to 500 meters. A 500 meter race is usually the main race event and lasts for about 2 min and 20 sec. A 250 meter race is usually a sprint race, and lasts for about 1 min and 10 sec. Here is a YouTube video of our women's team in one of our favorite race sites in Long Beach California. Follow us on Instagram page.
