• Conscious Movement
A growing tribe of movers and shakers are discovering and unleashing their power in conscious/ecstatic dance, a combination of moving meditation, soul-stirring music, self-expression and sweat. Conscious Movement is not a “class.” There is no “teacher” instructing. There is no following the leader, mimicking or imitating. Rather it is a deep dance, movement meditation; facilitated by a leader who sets the theme, tone and intention of the room. There are no structured steps or rules other than keeping yourself and everyone else safe, and honoring others’ boundaries as to whether or not they want to engage in partnered dance. It is your choice whether to interact with other dancers. Look for the clear YES and the clear NO. Secondly, Conscious Movement is spiritual in nature, in that participants use it as a way to move deeper into themselves and access moments beyond the thinking mind, of absolute embodied presence for the sake of spiritual growth, health, guidance and healing. Through creating a safe, nonjudgmental and uninhibited space people are able to bypass the thinking mind entirely and move deeply into the feeling body, the healing body, the knowing body. This is ultimately a space to truly be yourself, with yourself. Be with yourself in motion to music, within community. We are inviting our*selves to be free and relaxed while in motion. The group creates a safe container for everyone to feel and express fully whatever is present for that day. Those attending a dance are everyday normal people who are open to experimenting with and expressing themselves through dance. Conscious Movement is for people seeking fuller self-expression, increased health, vitality and connection into a like-minded community. Throughout the musical journey, each participant’s body, mind and spirit dictates their own experience. Someone more timid and inexperienced may lie on the ground and stretch or sit in a corner and observe until she feels comfortable enough to dance freely. Those more experienced and adept at uninhibited dance may leap out the gate the minute the music starts and not stop gyrating, stomping, jumping and hollering until the very last note an hour and a half later. Most participants are somewhere in between, gradually finding their way out of their self-conscious head space and into the synergistic freedom of expression engendered by the group one step, spin and leap at a time. The combination of carefully crafted music/vibrational tones, a setting of intentions and an invocation of spirits by participants, creates an energy field that often affects dancers in many beneficial ways. As the dancers’ hearts open, and their judgments and self-consciousness decrease, the ritual space becomes more activated and can easily transport participants into ecstatic states. Please come with a soul*full respect for oneself and all present on the floor. Please be sure to: * wear comfortable clothing, clothes to move in * be prepared to dance barefoot or with dance specific footwear. * be hydrated & fueled. (a lite bite beforehand is recommended if necessary) * hold conversation outside of the studio space.* keep fragrances to a minimum. Pure plant essences only...from time to time these may be introduced into the sessions (if you have allergies, inform me) Absolutely No heavily scented detergent, fabric softener, or body products please! * be free of recreational substance... we're tapping our medicine within! * be conscious of the space, your tribe and yourself. -FOR FASTER CHECK IN- please register online @ https://www.urbanwellnessphx.com/register and complete resignation form and liability release. This class is only $10. Did you know that we just added a membership program? It is totally worth it if you take more than two classes a week AND you get discounts on services from our practitioners, and discounts on workshops and retail. ASK!!!

  • Sunday Dance
Sunday Dance (https://www.facebook.com/PhoenixSundayDance/) Imagine a room filled with all sorts and varieties of humans, willing and ready to take a brief journey into connection and discovery of Self. We do this in the sacred space of the dance studio, moving freely to music created to transport us from our minds into our hearts, our breath, and our limbs. Allowing our bodies to express our thoughts and feelings into motion. Dancing consciousness. Moving into more of YOU. We begin with a guided warm up to get us connected with our bodies and breath, followed by about 80 minutes of freestyle, conscious movement. Ending together in a heart-centered closing circle. No one leaves a being a stranger. Dress comfortably to move, bring your water bottle. BE curious and Join US! Hosted by Nina Smith 15.00 Adults over 18 are welcome What you might experience at Sunday Dance (https://www.facebook.com/PhoenixSundayDance/)... As you enter the studio, remember that a sacred container has been created, and that we are all moving into our own inner space. Turn off your cell phone. Keep your conversations outside in the lobby. And BE welcomed into the dance! For the first 15 - 20 minutes we’ll be arriving into the room, arriving into our bodies, warming up, stretching. Breathe deeply, your breath will help to connect you with the process, especially if you‘re new to this practice. Anytime you feel unsure, focus on your breath, on the bottoms of your feet securely on the floor, allow your body to move freely. The music is designed in a ‘double wave’ moving from a slow circular flowing tempo to faster sharper staccato, building into chaos before releasing into lyrical, arriving at stillness then flowing again into the 2nd wave (as inspired by the 5Rhythms). Allowing us to move even deeper. In this form, the music is a guide/support into our inner realms. What am I feeling right now? How does my body like to move - right now? This is your time, your practice. Tune in, BE curious about your Self. If you feel the need to connect with another on the dance floor, remember - we are all in different places within, make sure you have full eye contact and consent before engaging another, before moving in too close. If you need to be lying/sitting down on the floor at any time, please do so on the edges of the room, very near the wall, keeping aware of moving dancers. There may be tears, shouts, or other forms of release happening on the dance floor. Do give space to the person in process, allow for their unfolding, we do not need to fix nor assist. The facilitator is holding everyone in awareness. Use the opportunity to deepen your own self-discovery. Honor each others’ space and journey, we are all moving into more of our Selves. Closing is our sacred time, a time to put our names into the circle and briefly share what is living in our hearts and minds. Pass the chocolate and YUUMmmmm… * Adults over 18 are welcome * DOORS CLOSE @ 10:45 am * This a fragrance-free/cell phone free space. * $15.00 per session, per person (5 class pass prepaid-$60.00 message Nina @ [masked]) Nina Smith (https://www.facebook.com/smythicalnina), ecstatic dancer and awakened Being, shares wisdom gathered from a lifelong love of learning and deep connection with spirit, through her dance and in expanded consciousness workshops and circles here in the Valley of the Sun and the world. https://www.instagram.com/smythicaldancer/

  • heART Dance: A Chakra Dance and Art Experience with Ryan Roman
heART Dance with East Valley Conscious Dance Developing conscious awareness through heARTdance- a moving meditation designed around your body’s seven main energy centers. heARTdance comes from the experience of heart forward conscious movement, freeform art and community sharing! Throughout the practice you become attuned to the energy flowing through your body and move into a heightened state of connection with yourself, community and the environment around you. You may see images in your mind’s eye while you are dancing or gain insights. You may also experience feelings, emotions or physical sensations. This is why we use the art as an anchor to ground our dance experience. Through movement, and vibrational frequencies of music, old energy is released...creating new energy! No dance experience is required. Comfortable clothing and water is suggested. We will use spontaneous dance to move eMotions through our own body, mind and soul. Through dance and art we move to specific music which resonates the vibrational frequency of the 7 chakras. This creative movement ignites your imagination which leads to awakening and discovery of your true self. When you surrender to the music of each chakra you will open yourself to a higher level of spiritual connection and experience what is known as the rhythm of your soul. About Ryan Roman: Ryan Roman is a strong believer that everyONE is able to heal with their very own heart rhythm! He prides himself on making conscious healing movement accessible to everyBody. By using his teaching, past professional dance experience, DJ abilities and other energy modalities, Ryan integrates a conscious mind, body, and spirit into a powerful, yet judgment-free space. Ryan is a licensed Chakradance Facilitator, with over 15 years of dance experience. We will dance to move the eMotions… energy in motion!
