An Introduction to Oracle In-Memory: This talk explains what the Oracle Database feature 'In-Memory' is, what it is useful for and will give a brief demo of using it.

Persistent Memory - The Future of Database? Is having instant DB startup, loading multiple terabytes of data in under a second and having almost instant DB recovery desirable and achievable?
This talk will investigate these questions and see a demo of a 3.75 TB database using persistent memory.

A little more about Doug Hood:

Doug has been using the Oracle Database since 5.1 and DEC Rdb/VMS before that. Doug has worked in Oracle Consulting, Development and Product Management. Doug is a product manager for Oracle TimesTen, Oracle NoSQL and Oracle In-Memory.

Session Abstract:

Networking is NOT just cables and fiber!: Just the word NETWORKING leaves a bad taste in the mouth of many technical people. At least when you are not talking about TCP/IP, fiber or CAT6. After all, one thing that attracted many of us to the IT world was not needing to deal with people. This session will help erase that bad taste by showing you how networking can help your career in more ways than you expect. It can also be pretty easy to do if you do just a little planning.Employees with better networking skills are beneficial to employers as your network is a resource that you can use to be a more effective problem solver.

A little more about Stephen Andert:

For over 20 years Stephen Andert has been engaged in a variety of leading edge IT technologies. Since 1999 Stephen has been working as with Oracle databases and applications. Stephen’s appearances at local and international Oracle user groups have been well received and highly rated by attendees. Stephen has written a book on Oracle performance tuning and has also done technical reviews and written articles for O’Reilly. He is currently actively consulting, supporting databases and helping companies maximize their use of databases and other technology to the greatest business benefit.

Please make a note: AZORA Meetups is taking the summer off. We will return on September 27th.
