Persistent Memory - The Future of Database? Is having instant DB startup, loading multiple terabytes of data in under a second and having almost instant DB recovery desirable and achievable?
This talk will investigate these questions and see a demo of a 3.75 TB database using persistent memory.
A little more about Doug Hood:
Doug has been using the Oracle Database since 5.1 and DEC Rdb/VMS before that. Doug has worked in Oracle Consulting, Development and Product Management. Doug is a product manager for Oracle TimesTen, Oracle NoSQL and Oracle In-Memory.
Networking is NOT just cables and fiber!: Just the word NETWORKING leaves a bad taste in the mouth of many technical people. At least when you are not talking about TCP/IP, fiber or CAT6. After all, one thing that attracted many of us to the IT world was not needing to deal with people. This session will help erase that bad taste by showing you how networking can help your career in more ways than you expect. It can also be pretty easy to do if you do just a little planning.Employees with better networking skills are beneficial to employers as your network is a resource that you can use to be a more effective problem solver.
