AZ Wilderness Coalition will be performing habitat enhancement efforts to contribute towards the restoration of these sites for the federal listed threatened Chiricahua leopard frog. Work will consist of the following:
Removing invasive plant species to allow open surface waters for CLF to forage. (i.e., cattails, charra, horehound, etc.)
Filling in gaps around exposed soil liner to prevent erosion.
Repairing wildlife enclosure and fence Installing wildlife ramps in cattle troughs Remove non-native fish species (i.e., goldfish) Installing rocks at bottom of ponds and soil liner to provide stability of ponds.
All necessary tools and training will be given at the event. Car–camping at Rucker Canyon Admin Site. There is drinking water available at designated camp sites. However, one should bring enough drinking water for the duration of the entire project. AWC will provide dinner on Saturday.
