Details

Join Wild Arizona in Arnett Creek and Telegraph Canyon as we explore beautiful desert canyons and work alongside Boy Scouts and an Arizona Conservation Corps crew to process and haul bags of oleander out from a site being cleared as part of an ongoing riparian restoration in collaboration with the Friends of the Tonto National Forest, Tonto National Forest, Backcountry Horsemen and others.

A group of Boy Scouts will be coming in on Saturday to help haul bags of oleander vegetation 1.5 miles from the project site to the trailhead, and we need your help to strip leaves and leafy vegetation from the plants and stuffing it into garbage bags so there's a good batch of bags ready and in place to be hauled out on Saturday.

Benefits of this project are expected to accrue to migratory bird species, including the Yellow-billed cuckoo for which this area can support habitat; the Long-fin dace native fish, which is found in the project area; and many other native species found in the area, including bats, amphibians, reptiles, and more. Overall biodiversity should benefit by removal of encroaching non-native vegetation.

Car camping is available for those who want to stay multiple days.
