Advanced WP Developer Meetup - March 24

From: Gabe Z.
Sent on: Tuesday, March 15, 2016 5:31 PM

Good Afternoon,

Please join us for this month's Advanced Developer Meetup on Thursday, March 24 from 7-9pm at the Skyhook offices. This meetup is held on the 4th Thursday of the month at the same location.

The vision for this meetup is to provide local WP developers with the education, support and networking opportunities we need to be successful in our careers. Each month we’ll bring in one or two really solid speakers to provide mind-blowing content, bookended with networking and sharing/hacking time. Oh, and we'll have sponsors to provide food & drinks as well.

This month’s lineup:

Reduce, Reuse, Refactor - Chris Klosowski (Easy Digital Downloads)

Managing codebases and projects takes time, and time usually means money (especially with development resources). Using some of the methods discussed, we can help make ourselves and our teams more productive as we move from project to project, which saves time, money, and costly research time. We'll cover code complexity, reusability, and the dreaded 'refactoring' question.

Chris is the Co-Lead Developer of Easy Digital Downloads, the Founding developer of Post Promoter Pro, and a lifetime practitioner of the Hacker Mentality. Figuring out the 'why' in things is what lead him to his development career as well as home-brewing beer. When he's not coding or brewing, Chris spends his time with his wife and boys being sure to teach them things like "Light Sabers aren't toys", "Always cheer for the Rebel Alliance", and "Han shot FIRST."

Guided discussion
Following the presentation, we’ll brainstorm topics that are of interest to the meetup and explore further presentation & discussion. If a topic is particularly interesting, we’ll be looking for someone who can present on it in the following month.

Due to space constraints and a desire to keep the event intimate, registration has been limited to 40 attendees. Please register only if you are really coming so that we can keep seats open for others!

For those who can’t attend in-person, we’ll be livestreaming/recording the event through the Arizona WordPress Group website and YouTube.

Hope to see you there!
