Thrilled to be going to Parnell art precinct with Assoc Prof Linda Tyler sharing her perspective.
Meeting at Jonathan Grant Gallery with regular exhibits of a selection of paintings from its unrivalled stock of 18th & 19th Century British, Sporting, Marine, French Impressionist, Victorian, European and Modern New Zealand paintings.
Beside we find ARTIS Gallery, the host gallery for Medal Art New Zealand (MANZ) – a group of New Zealand’s leading contemporary sculptors. This 2023 biennial exhibition has thirty artists presenting medals and /or small sculptures.
Down the driveway to the Basement Gallery for large sculptures and the stockroom - a real treasure trove.
Across the road to Parnell Gallery showing Jae Frew: Manu Kōingo – Birds of Yearning, Frew pays tribute to New Zealand’s extinct and endangered native wildlife, bringing together his in-depth knowledge of portraiture with a lifelong interest in birds, and fervour for creating objects with wood.
We may, given time, go to the Black Door with three artists: Richard Ponder Art In the Garden; Jennie De Groot - Memory of Place; and Neala Glass - Portrait of a Feeling.
We will finish at the International Art Centre with an auction viewing of rare and important art where Linda will talk about the works she has written about for the Catalogue.
