What we're about

Art Model Collective is a model-run group who organise their own life drawing events, offering dramatic, interactive, themed multi-model tableaux vivants.

Continuing on from the work started as The Life Drawing Collective, Carla and Manko invite you to take part in this new stage of the project, which opens up the roster to be more inclusive and representative of the industry as a whole. To treat established professionals with the respect they deserve, to mentor and nurture new talent and create a healthier happier working environment, this model-run initiative aims to raise the standards of life modelling, to push the models and the artists to new heights of excellence.

If you want to see the models you love be paid what they deserve, come and join the revolution!

(Or if you don't care about politics and activism, then remember that this financial scheme allows us the luxury of dramatic multi-model compositions that most events could simply not afford).

AMC Sundays at LARA: Mucha life drawing

London Atelier of Representational Art

This new year is the 90th anniversary of the birth of our collective’s favourite artist Alphonse Mucha, and we shall celebrate this iconic artist with AMC spring Sunday session at LARA on March 31st! It will feature models Carla and Manko as the beflowered spring sprites, and the smoking cigarette paper ad girls from Mucha’s enchanting artwork. Alphonse Mucha needs no introduction - he produced a flurry of paintings, posters, advertisements and book illustrations in what was termed initially “The Mucha Style” but became known as Art Nouveau. Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing, vaguely Neoclassical-looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed halos behind their heads. In contrast with contemporary poster makers he used pale pastel colours. So bring your pastels, toned paper, and join our models to create a fitting tribute to this artist. (We will also have a selection of free paper and materials courtesy of our sponsor, GreatArt shop). (By the way, our first Mucha tribute session two years ago was extremely popular with our followers and produced gorgeous and inspired artwork. We expect this event will sell out well in advance, so don’t hesitate to get your ticket - this session is strictly limited to 30 attendees) These sessions are untutored and open to every level of skill. LARA provide easels, chairs and drawing boards. We will have a selection of paper and free materials courtesy of GreatArt. The spaces are limited to 30, tickets on sale via EventBrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/amc-sundays-at-lara-mucha-life-drawing-multimodel-tribute-tickets-54221198063

LET THEM EAT CAKE! life drawing with Manko and Zoetica

The Underdog London

On 2 April, to celebrate the delights of spring, AMC wish to revive the hedonistic excesses which inspired the French Revolution. For this theatrical multi-model life drawing session, AMC founder Manko is teaming up with multi-talented artist Zoetica Ebb, to host a visual feast of dainty cakes, champagne, corsets and powdered wigs at Underdog Gallery. Manko and Zoetica previously collaborated on the immensely popular Retro Sci-Fi and Russian Wintertales sessions. The phrase "Let Them Eat Cake!" is mis-attributed to the last French Queen Marie Antoinette, and we're thrilled to sink our teeth into this delightful cliché while taking inspiration from the shameless gluttony, unethical etiquette and the courtesans of the royal court. All levels welcome, join our friendly and social crowd of regulars! Full bar, and themed soundtrack Table spaces, comfy seats and easels Free paper and art materials, courtesy by Great Art. (£15 in advance, £20 cash on the door) artmodelcollective.bigcartel.com/product/let-them-eat-cake-life-drawing-with-zoetica-manko

AMC Sundays at LARA - Renaissance Nude life drawing

London Atelier of Representational Art

Welcome to another relaxed Sunday afternoon life drawing session with Art Model Collective! ‘The Renaissance Nude’, currently on show - until June 2nd - at the Royal Academy will be the main inspiration behind this multi-model session. And how could we have ignored this phenomenal mix of mega valuable masterpieces that explore the "developments that elevated the nude to play a pivotal role in the art from 1400 to 1530"?! Academic drawing is mainly about the nude figure, and this exhibition shows a fabulous juxtaposition of work from different regions of Europe that demonstrate how the nude was at the time a major concern for the Arts. AMC will pay tribute to this beautiful and relevant exhibition by recreating with two female models - Carla and Manko - some of the characteristically languid Renaissance visions of femininity. You will be drawing the long wavy hair and sublime poses that are a constant theme throughout the Renaissance era, seen as the most recognisable ideal of femininity. During this 3 hours session on a highly wonderful Sunday, as the models attempt to emulate the period’s idealisation of the body, you can also expect lots of luscious red and blue velvet backdrops and floating drapery. But, in order to do justice to this exhibition’s amazing selection of art, we will be bringing a depiction of the human body that reflects vulnerability too. The afternoon will also include some haunting depictions of the nude with a rather demonic vision of female flesh: The drawing, ‘Luxuria’ by Pisanello, included in ‘The Renaissance Nude’ in particular caught our eye. It seems to be a drawing out of time, belonging perfectly in the 20th century, something that could so easily have been created during an AMC session... we are not exaggerating! Expect a tribute to this powerful drawing during the day’s session, along with the Venus of Titian and much more! ----------- The collaboration between AMC and LARA has been brewing for a while now and is blowing all the traditions away – this will be a truly unique blend of your beloved AMC events set in an inspiring academic environment. LARA is unique in being the contemporary-minded atelier that welcomes AMC to reinvigorate life drawing! These sessions are untutored and open to every level of skill. LARA provide easels, chairs and drawing boards. We will have a selection of paper and free materials courtesy of GreatArt. The spaces are limited to 30, tickets on sale via EventBrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/amc-sundays-at-lara-the-renaissance-nude-life-drawing-tickets-58756836279
