This group is for anyone in the Chicago-area who is asking the question "how can I earn a living from my art?". Guided group discussions and brainstorming will be framed by texts from a university seminar course I teach entitled "Entrepreneurship for Creative and Performing Artists." The ultimate goal of our group is to help you develop and implement a plan for your artistic business. Discussion topics will include:
• business structures
• business plan examples
• free or low-cost marketing resources, including:
• e-mail list management
• website creation
• social media integration
• mobile fundraising
• crowdfunding tools
Here are some comments from students who have taken the university course:
"Please do everything in your power to ensure that these types of classes are made available to majors and minors in the arts."
"Rose is great at engaging the students in discussion and knows the value of reciprocated learning, as she took the students' points of view to apply it to the class goals. It was an awesome class!"
"She is very experienced in the performance industry. She has a passion for the subject and a genuine interest in helping the students learn and grow and achieve their goals. She provides constructive feedback."
"She is a great teacher and singer, and she is very passionate about helping us students be ready for our careers."
"This instructor continues to be a highlight of my semester when I have a class with her. She is supportive and fun. She makes class a positive environment and makes me want to learn."
Hello everybody! I am reserving a space that will accommodate 7 seated guests. We will start the Meetup with a 15 minute period for networking (so bring your business cards) followed by "What is a Business Plan & what can it do for my artistic business?" presentation and discussion.
