Evaluation is central to what we do at Arun Speakers Club. The helpful, constructive comments we receive allow us to improve, develop and grow as public speakers and presenters. Evaluation is provided by our peers, our fellow members - ourselves! And it is an art in itself. How to listen. How to prepare feedback which will help and motivate fellow members to grow and improve as speakers, as evaluators and as role takers during the meeting. How to prepare that feedback for delivery at very short notice - often an evaluation speech is delivered less than 30 minutes after the speech being evaluated! This evening will be full of tips and techniques for giving effective evaluations. Guests are very welcome - and you will be able to sit back and enjoy the evening. There is no obligation to take an active part. The meeting will be on Zoom - Meeting ID[masked]. Please message us for the room password. The room opens at 7pm, and activities start at 7:15.
We are a public speaking club helping to develop speaking and presentation skills. We used to do this in a room full of people - the new normal means that we need to develop new skills to speak and give presentations from the comfort of our own homes. Expect prepared speeches, impromptu speaking, evaluations - and fun! Guests are very welcome - and you won't be expected to take part, unless the urge takes you! The meeting will take place on Zoom, with the room opening at 7pm. Proceedings start at 7:15, and usually finish around 8:45 / 9:00pm. The meeting ID is[masked]. Please message us for password details.
Tonight is our annual Humorous Speaking Contest and our Table Topics Contest. For the first time, these Contests will be help online, so our speakers will have a slightly different set of skills to demonstrate! The winners of these contests will go on to represent Arun Speakers Club in the Area Contests and, hopefully, into the Regional and National competitions. Guests are very welcome to join us - but don't worry, you won't be asked to compete. Sit back and enjoy some excellent public speaking! The meeting will take place on Zoom - Meeting ID[masked]. The room opens at 7pm, and the contests will start at 7:15. Please message us for password details.
We continue to develop our online presentation and public speaking skills using Zoom - practice public speaking from the comfort of your own home! We are looking at the technicalities of "hybrid" meetings, with some members meeting in person and some joining us virtually when lockdown rules are sufficiently eased. In the meantime, we expect this to be a fully virtual meeting with prepared speeches, evaluations and impromptu speaking ("Table Topics"). The Zoom Room opens at 7:00, with proceedings starting at 7:15pm. The meeting ID is[masked]. Please message for password details. Guests are very welcome - and you don't have to take part unless you really want to!
