Road to Mastery Intermediate/Advanced Class

Details

The Road to Mastery Intermediate/Advanced Class will be held every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. starting February 5 to April 9.

Here's Duchesne description on his special preparation of his syllabus for the class:
I prepared a set of lessons on DEFENSE. Each class revolves around a set of exercises on a defensive theme. The themes will range from specific technique (E.g. "Fortresses") to general technique (E.g. "Prophylaxis", "Know Your Endings") or attitude (E.g. "Stay Cool").
I see my main objectives as a teacher as helping the student acquire good studying and analysis habits and help him work out chess truths on his own.
I taught chess more than 30 years ago in Liege -Belgium- in a Jesuit high school where it became part of the regular curriculum. I also helped start an after school chess program in eight other schools of the city. A few years ago I started a regular Thursday night class at the Carver Center in Purcellville that many members of the Ashburn club have attended over the years.
