Peter McGuire has been practicing law in Western North Carolina since 2002. A native of Asheville, Peter is proud to call this area home and feels a deep responsibility for its people and places. Prior to practicing law, Peter worked as a fly fishing guide on the waters of Western North Carolina and Western Montana.

Peter began his practice at a large law firm in Asheville in 2002 practicing primarily insurance defense and professional malpractice defense. In 2008, Peter formed a solo firm focusing on environmental law and general litigation, which allowed him to practice in varied legal areas and on myriad cases ranging from class actions and insurance matters to sedimentation pollution and property disputes. Peter joined the Strauss Attorneys firm in late 2014. Here, Peter leads the firm’s estate and fiduciary litigation team, which focuses on controversies arising out of trust and estate administration, as well as estate planning, business succession planning, and corporate formation. Peter especially enjoys handling complex estate planning projects that include advanced tax and asset protection strategies
