What's in a Name: The spinoff movie will be titled Solo: A Star Wars Story. This follows the form of the saga’s first spinoff in 2016, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We will also find out how the space scoundrel got his title, with Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy stating: "There’s more to Han Solo’s name"

Solo Origins: Little is known of the story, which takes place around 10 years before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. But screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, who also worked on The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens, said of Solo: "He's younger in this movie and that's fun because you have to imagine him 10 years earlier in his early 20s. What was he like before he hardened up? Before he had some setbacks? Before he put on this cynical coat? What got him there?" The official synopsis reads: "Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future co-pilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes."

Lando Calrissian: Donald Glover, known for roles in TV series such as "Community" and "Atlanta," will play Lando Calrissian, a fellow smuggler and gambler first played by Billy Dee Williams in The Empire Strikes Back. Han famously won the Millennium Falcon from Lando in a card game named sabacc. The first trailer hints that we will see this event played out in the new movie.

"Chewie, Is That You?": Joonas Suotamo, a Finnish actor that stands at 6' 10", will play Solo’s loyal friend and co-pilot, Chewbacca. Suotamo donned the Wookiee costume for The Force Awakens (2015), sharing the role with original Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew, and solely took on the role inThe Last Jedi (2017).

Release Date: The movie wrapped filming on Oct. 17, 2017, and is set for release on May 25, 2018 – the 41st anniversary of the release of Star Wars: A New Hope, in which the character of Han Solo was first introduced.
