Are you an Asian-American, person of color, an ally, or just someone interested in telling unique stories about your community or experience? Are you a writer, filmmaker, actor, cinematographer, editor, producer, or someone interested in getting involved in creative pursuits? If so, join the Asian-American Baltimore/DMV Filmmakers, Screenwriters, & Actors (super) group!
We're interested in: - Workshop-ing your stories through feedback sessions - Bringing your screenplays to life by connecting you to area resources - Inspiring you by showcasing a diverse range of stories and voices via film/book recommendations - Introducing you to your next production or project - Making friends with other passionate individuals who are interested in any of the above - And sometimes even just hanging out and watching/talking movies or literature or general community issues together!
We're open to individuals of all backgrounds and across all skill/experience levels who are serious about starting AND finishing their projects. Our goal is to hold regular meetings throughout the Northern Virginia/D.C./Baltimore area.
The structure for our group is as follows:
1) Pitch Meeting: Have a film you want to get made? Prepare your pitch and let us know all about it!
2) Workshop Meeting: 2 weeks after our pitching meeting, we'll have a workshop session to provide feedback to all those who have pitched. Even if you didn't pitch, feel free to bring anything you're working on and we'll get to it if time permits!
3) Vote/Social Meeting: 2 weeks after our workshop meeting, we'll get an update on all prospective films and vote on which ones we'd like have made. Then, stick around as we talk movies we've seen recently and general film stuff!
4) Production Meeting: We'll start compiling cast/crews and continue until the film is completed. Rinse/repeat.
Since this group does cost money to maintain and I am not requiring any dues, members MUST attend a meeting every production cycle or risk removal.
