Let's take the Orochon Ramen (spicy) challenge on Presidents Day

If you love ramen and spicy food, you will love this place. I have been here many times for lunch and maybe once for dinner, but never seem to get tired of their ramen noodles.  Me and my co-worker actually discovered this place many moons ago, by accident.  We were supposed to go to a restaurant in the same plaza, but there’s a wait so we decided to try this place.  Yeah to that!  We were hooked!  We started to come here every week or whenever we have more time since it’s a bit of a drive from our work.  We would challenge ourselves each time by raising our spicy levels.  So what’s my spicy level?  You’ll have to come and find out.

This place has gotten so popular over the years that their seating capacity has also gone double.  Well, the restaurant is still at its same size, they just extended their seating right outside the restaurant.  So when you get there, there’s a sign-up sheet for you to put your name, number of guests, and if you prefer to seat inside or outside.  I prefer seating inside :)

The restaurant menu is not very big, but they do have other dishes besides the more popular ramen noodles.   I have posted the yelp website below for you to check out if you have never been here.  If you decide to go for their ramen noodles, you have to pick among the 3 types of soup base: miso, soy sauce and salt. I usually ordered their soy sauce ramen with additional toppings. My favorite toppings are the egg, Cha Shu Pork Slice, and bamboo shoot.  Next, you’d need to pick your spicy level (from 1 to 7) and level 7 is not spicy. If you’re up for the challenge, you can always take on their Special #2.  If you can finish it in 30 minutes, you would eat it for free and put your picture on their “Wall of Bravery”.

Orochon Ramen is located on the 3rd floor of the Weller Court plaza (Japanese Town) with parking validation (45 min). Parking is available in a lot downstairs. The price is around $1.50 for every 15 minutes of parking.
