This is one of the few places in the Bay Area I will hike again and again...
Let's do a 8.6 miles hike at Lake Chabot in Castro Valley on Sunday 8/3/14. This is an easy to moderate hike with lots of shades. We'll hike around a scenic lake, climb up to enter a tree forest and get back on the trail to re-circle the lake and complete the loop. Afterwards, we can have a late lunch (optional). See below for details:
Where to meet: You can set your GPS on 17600 lake Chabot road, Castro Valley. You can park on the street and walk into the entrance or drive through the Kiosk entrance and pay $5 and park in the parking lot. Once you are inside, walk to the Marina where there are boats. We will meet at 10:15am and this should take about 3 hours with short breaks, depending on the speed of the group.
What to bring: One to two liters of water, Sun screen/block, good walking/hiking shoes and maybe a hat. You may also want to bring some snacks to share.
Optional late lunch: *Tins Teapot Bistro*, 320 Jackson Street, Hayward[masked]
This is a newly renovated restaurant with a new owner (Good food at a fair price - I had Dim Sum and dinner there).
