Come to our Free-to Attend “Learn Navigation” series on Thursday, December 20th
This Workshop will focus on the Rules of the Nautical Road. Everyone is welcome to attend this free 75 minute workshop at the Palm City Civic Association at 770 SW 34th Street in Palm City from 6:30 – 7:45 pm, Thursday, December 20th. Hosted by Captain Jim McNamee, a 35 year professional mariner and merchant ship captain, and sponsored by METCo – Marine Electronics of the Treasure Coast. The numbers don’t lie, and 2017’s Coast Guard accident statistics tell boating educators that we need to try harder. • Over 80% of boaters have received no basic instruction • 50% of fatalities are attributed to inexperience, inattention, poor navigation, and bad weather • Less than 10% of boaters understand the Rules of the Road A useful knowledge of the Rules of the Road is hard to come by and other instruction focuses on detail that is impossible to remember. In this free-to-attend class you’ll learn a clear, simplified, and easy to remember understanding of the Rules to help keep you safe and make boating in traffic less stressful. The Rules work when both parties know and obey them. Protect yourself from everyone else!

    What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in learning about seamanship, navigation, boat handling, and in obtaining a U.S. Coast Guard Captain's license. I am starting this group to share the skills I practiced as a Submarine Service quartermaster and as a merchant ship captain since my retirement after 35 years at sea. It will be fun, informative, useful, and free!
