An Exploration Into Cult Deprogramming

The "Going Clear" documentary and Leah Remini's "Scientology And The Aftermath" series have exposed the personal destruction cults have had on so many of us. Sadly, cult behavior is not limited to quasi-religious extremist groups. Cultish characteristics are common in most personal development and networking organizations, as well as in abusive relationships and family dynamics. Broken and forgotten people are often love-bombed into groups that strip them of autonomy, leaving them more devastated than ever.

Steve Clark spent most of his adult life in the 12-step and self-help world. While these appear on the surface to be good, there is a very dark side that follows the manipulative patterns of cults. It took many years of slow deprogramming, which included working with specialists, to finally break away. This deeply personal talk explores many areas of human psychology, interpersonal communication, and sociology.
